Heartbeat charts can be created directly from the Heartbeat menu, or when navigating the results of an Explore comparison.

Directly from the Heartbeat menu

Before creating a Heartbeat chat, ensure you have defined the themes you want to track and uploaded your data.

  1. Navigate to 'Heartbeat' from the main sidebar, then click on the blue plus button in the top right

  2. Click on 'Select data' and choose the relevant project and timestamped data file (also known as Language Set).

From Explore

Heartbeat charts can be created when navigating the comparison results in Explore.

  1. Select an existing theme from the drop-down from the side panel or create a new one by clicking the 'Create Theme' icon and then 'Create.'

  2. Now, you can drag and drop the things you want to track into the theme builder side panel or select from the saved themes by clicking the drop-down menu.

  3. Click the Heartbeat icon in the side panel to apply those themes to the data associated with your current comparison.
